The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Friday.

-- Assess management company Futuregrowth investment officer Andrew Canter moved on Thursday to calm the furore over the fund's decision to pull the plug on new loans to state-owned enterprises, saying he personally apologized for his failure to engage firms directly before going public.

Canter is, nonetheless, continuing in his bid to engage the companies on their governance arrangements and standards, including the credentials of their directors and their independence. (Business Day)

-- State capture should not be used for grandstanding in Parliament, but reported to competent authorities like the police, the African National Congress (ANC) said on Thursday.

The party rejected a proposed motion the DA made in the National Assembly for Parliament to establish an ad hoc committee to investigate the influence of business on government. (News24)
