The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.

-- Two people have died while 42 others were rushed to Hospital after a church building collapsed Saturday during a service in northern Zambia's Chinsali district. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Former Zambian President Rupiah Banda will be honored for the role he has played in promoting democracy in Africa during a summit to be held in Lesotho by the Lesotho Students Congress Association later this month.

Banda ruled Zambia from August 2008 to September 2011. He is held in high esteem for handing over power after losing the elections. (Daily Nation)

-- Inspectors from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have expressed optimism that Zambia will host a successful 2017 Africa Youth Championship after inspecting facilities.

Head of six-member delegation Amadou Diakite said the team was impressed with the training facilities and that Zambia was on course with preparations for the biennial continental championship. He however said there were a few things that will need attention before the tournament kicks off from Feb. 26 to March 12, 2017.

Teams that will compete in the tournament include Cameroon, Egypt, Guinea, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan and hosts Zambia. (Zambia Daily Mail) Endit
