Xinhua, September 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Israeli police said they shot dead a Palestinian who tried to ram his car into a group of Israeli officers in a refugee camp in East Jerusalem on Monday morning.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said border police officers were finishing a raid in the refugee camp of Shuafat when a car sped up toward them. They opened fire at the car, killing the driver and seriously injuring a passenger in the vehicle, she added.

No Israelis were injured in the incident.

Violence has rocked Israel and the West Bank since mid-September, claiming the lives of least 220 Palestinians, 34 Israelis, two U.S. citizens, and two asylum seekers from Eritrea and Sudan. Endit
