Xinhua, September 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Algeria on Sunday defeated Lesotho 6-0 on the sixth and final day of qualifiers to the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2017.

The goals were scored by El Arabi Hillel Soudani(7', 38'), Riyad Mahrez (17', 74'), Safir Taider (23'), and Riyad Boudebouz on penalty (45+2).

The Algerian squad managed to score 25 goals in six matches in the qualifiers, putting them on top of the list of strongest attacks.

The match was the first official test for the new Serbian coach of Algeria, Milovan Rajevac. The impressive result in fact has no importance; the Greens have already secured their qualification for the CAN after their last victory (2-0) against the Seychelles.

The game is more a preparation match for Mahrez' mates, who are due to face Cameroon on Oct. 9 onthe first day qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The game was held at Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida province, 50 km south-west of Algiers. Endit
