The Syrian army wrested back control over a series of military bases south of the northern province of Aleppo Sunday, reimposing a full siege on rebel-held areas in the eastern part of Aleppo city, Syria's national TV reported.

The military forces recaptured all the military bases near the al-Ramuseh area south of Aleppo, said the report. (Syria-Aleppo-Siege)

ISTANBUL -- Turkey has sent more tanks and other military equipment into northern Syria for an extended operation, signaling its readiness to wade deeper into the raging war in the neighboring country to confront challenges on the ground, analysts said.

Some 20 tanks and a number of armored vehicles rolled into the northern Syrian town of al-Rai, in what the state-run Anadolu Agency described as a "new phase" in Operation Euphrates Shield launched on Aug. 24, in which the Islamic State (IS) was driven from the Syrian border town of Jarablus. ANKARA -- The Islamic States (IS) militants lost control of their last territory along the Syrian-Turkish border, Turkish military told Anadolu Agency on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, after Turkey backed the Free Syrian Army (FSA) forces, the FSA, which is supported by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), reconnected the Azaz-Jarabulus line on Sunday after flushing the area clean of IS militants. (Turkey-Syria-Border)

LONDON -- The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Jeffrey Mountevans, said the G20 summit held in Hangzhou is very important, and that he expects China to play an important role in promoting global economic growth.

"I think G20 is very important, something I attach personally great importance to. I think China's interest in increasing Chinese involvement in the world economy is very positive," Mountevans said in a recent interview with Xinhua. (Britain-China-G20)

HANGZHOU -- Political and business leaders from across the world rang the alarm here over the weekend against a broad resurgence of trade protectionism, calling for concerted efforts to boost global trade.

HANGZHOU -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met here separately with his U.S. and Russian counterparts over the weekend on improvement of Ankara's relations with the two countries.

BUENOS AIRES -- The Vice-President of Argentina's Industrial Union, Daniel Funes de Rioja, hailed China's role in the fight against poverty on Sunday during the Business 20 (B20) summit in the Chinese city of Hangzhou.

According to Argentinean news portal Terra, Funes de Rioja said in Hangzhou that "globalization and interconnectivity bring us today opportunities that were never had before," pointing to how China has benefited tremendously from global trade. (Argentina-China-G20)

BRATISLAVA -- The European Union (EU) can't leave the entire migration issue only on the shoulders of countries that are exposed to heavy migrant flows, such as Greece and Italy, Slovak parliament's foreign affairs committee chairman Frantisek Sebej said Sunday.
