Kenyan runners win international marathon along Yellow River

Kenyan runners Kipkorir Joshua and Chepchirchir Truphena won the men's and women's titles in the 5th Ningxia Yellow River international marathon in Wuzhong city of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Saturday.

In the men's race, Joshua finished first in two hours, 17 minutes and 55 seconds, followed by his Kenyan compatriots Kebenei Ernest Kiprugut in 2:23:16, and Keitany Francis, who stood third with 2:24:56.

Truphena took the women's title at 2:40:09. Ethiopian Dubiso Mesera Hussen came second in 2:42:20, followed by another Ethiopian Ido Fanose Waktola with 2:44:23.

The competition, featuring a full marathon, a half marathon and a 5km mini marathon, attracted about 25,000 runners from home and abroad.

According to the organizers, winners of the full marathon will pick up a cash prize of 20,000 US dollars and the total prize of the competition reaches 134,750 dollars. Endit
