Former runner-up Caroline Wozniacki defeated Monica Niculescu 6-3, 6-1 here on Friday to reach the US Open last-16.

Wozniacki has struggled this year with injuries and dropped to No. 74 in the world rankings. But things started to get better as the former word No. 1 has won three consecutive matches for the first time since January.
