Macedonian gov't reshuffled

Xinhua, September 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Macedonian parliament elected Oliver Spasovski and Frosina Tasevska Remenski as new ministers of interior and labor/social policies during Friday's plenary session.

The result came after the resignation of two former ministers.

The new ministers were elected with 95 and 94 votes respectively, local media reported Friday. The lawmakers also voted to elect some new deputy ministers.

The interim government will now start the preparations for the snap elections on Dec. 11 as it was agreed few days ago by the leaders of four main political parties.

After the election of the new ministers and deputy ministers, Macedonian Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev declared in front of the MPs that it's high time for Macedonia to organize fair elections and choose a new government in a democratic atmosphere.

On the other hand, he called on the newly elected ministers and deputy ministers to demonstrate commitment and diligence during their mandate.

He expressed confidence that the political crisis in Macedonia is coming to an end while noted that the election process and new cabinet will mean a new prospect to the citizens of Macedonia, local media reported. Endit
