Former Brazil international midfielder Elias has rejoined his former club Sporting Lisbon just hours before the close of the European transfer window.

The Portuguese club confirmed the deal on its official Twitter account after the 31-year-old completed a medical on Wednesday.

Elias spent three seasons at Sporting before his 2014 move to Corinthians. He made 58 appearances for the Sao Paulo outfit and helped them to the 2015 Brazilian Serie A title.

According to the Uol news portal, Sporting paid one million euros for 50% of Elias' economic rights.

The former Flamengo and Atletico Madrid player has been capped 35 times for Brazil's national team. Enditem
