Leaders of 12 Central and Eastern European parliaments on Wednesday agreed to increase inter-parliamentary cooperation and to work for better cooperation between EU and non-EU countries.

After the parliamentary meeting, Polish Sejm (lower house) Deputy Speaker Ryszard Terlecki said participants agreed to "intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation and will work for such changes in Europe that will improve cooperation between the European Union and countries outside the EU."

"The EU, and all Europe together with it, is in a crisis which is the deepest since the beginning of their existence," Polish Sejm Speaker Marek Kuchcinski said.

Kuchcinski added it was necessary to think about the future of the EU and all of Europe, and Central Eastern Europe should adopt a common stance on these matters. Endit
