Duterte's chief protocol officer to be next Philippine ambassador to U.S.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Monday that his Chief Protocol Officer Marciano Paynor Jr. will be the country's next Ambassador to the United States.

He will succeed Jose Cuisia Jr., who was the country's envoy to the U.S. during the previous administration of President Benigno Aquino III.

During the country's hosting last year of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, Paynor acted as the director general of the APEC 2015 National Organizing Council.

Paynor served also as the protocol chief to former Presidents Fidel Ramos and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

He is a member of the Class 1971 of the Philippine Military Academy. Endit
