British FTSE 100 up 0.31 pct on Friday

The FTSE 100 Index, Britain's benchmark stock market gauge, closed at 6,838.05 points, up 21.15 points or 0.31 percent on Friday.

The share price of Rio Tinto increased by 3.29 percent to top the gainers of the blue chips. Other best performers included Glencore (3.21 percent), BHP Billiton (3.15 percent), Antofagasta Holdings (2.75 percent), and BAE Systems (2.27 percent).

AstraZeneca led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 1.12 percent, followed by Shire (1.06 percent), Burberry Group (0.98 percent), Imperial Brands Group (0.97 percent), and Admiral Group (0.87 percent). Endit
