Slovakia to send police to Macedonia for joint border patrolling

Xinhua, August 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

Following the memorandum of understanding signed by Macedonia and Slovakia to rotate police forces patrolling the Greek-Macedonia border, the Slovakian Embassy here announced Friday that 25 Slovak additional police officers would arrive in Macedonia on Aug. 29.

This is the fourth such rotation of police officers. The 25 Slovak police officers will patrol the border together with Macedonian policemen in order to prevent any illegal border crossing.

After the arrival of these 25 officers, the number of police officers deployed by Slovakia to Macedonia will reach 100.

Slovakia last year deployed nearly 300 police officers on foreign missions to Hungary, Slovenia, Macedonia, and border operations of European Union agency, Frontex. Endit
