Xinhua, August 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

South Sudan's newly appointed First Vice President Taban Deng is to arrive in Khartoum on Sunday for an official visit, official SUNA news agency reported.

"Taban Deng will begin on Sunday a three-day visit to Sudan," the agency quoted Gariballa Khader, Sudanese Foreign Ministry Spokesman, as saying.

Deng is leading a high-level delegation, including South Sudan's defense and oil ministers as well as director of military intelligence, he said.

The South Sudanese official would meet with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and First Vice-President Bakri Hassan Saleh to discuss ongoing developments in South Sudan.

Deng was appointed as South Sudan's first vice-president two weeks ago to replace Riek Machar who had disappeared after the recent clashes in the South Sudanese capital Juba which left thousands of people dead. Endit
