Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen left here on Friday morning for a two-day visit to Timor-Leste, where he will witness the signing ceremony of three documents between the two countries, a senior official said.

"This is the first visit of Samdech Techo Prime Minister to Timor-Leste,"Sry Thamarong, minister attached to the prime minister, told reporters before the departure.

"The visit will enhance the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, especially express Cambodia's support to Timor-Leste for its proposal to become the 11th member of ASEAN."

He said that Hun Sen will hold bilateral talks with Timor-Leste Prime Minister Rui Maria de Araujo soon after his arrival in Timor-Leste and the two prime ministers will preside over the signing ceremony of three documents, which are focussed on technical and economic cooperation, labour field and visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and service passports.

According to the official, both countries also want to promote their trade ties as Cambodia wishes to sell milled rice to Timor-Leste and the latter expects to export coffee to Cambodia.

During the visit, Hun Sen will also attend the 41st anniversary of the founding of the liberation forces of Timor-Leste on Aug. 20. Enditem
