Iran FM to visit Latin America for expansion of economic ties

Xinhua, August 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will kick off his one-week Latin American tour on Sunday aimed at developing ties, Press TV reported on Wednesday.

Zarif, heading an economic delegation, will visit Cuba, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia and Venezuela.

During his visit to Latin America, the Iranian foreign minister will discuss the expansion of ties with the six countries following Iran's nuclear agreement with the world powers.

More than 60 businessmen and heads of private sector enterprises will reportedly accompany Zarif in the tour.

Zarif's visit will open a "new chapter in the relations between Iran and Latin America," Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi said on Wednesday.

Takht-e-Ravanchi attached great importance to ties between Iran and Latin America despite a long distance, adding that cooperation outlook is promising in many areas, especially in economic sector. Endit
