The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- Zambia's President-elect Edgar Lungu has expressed concern over the regional voting pattern which characterized the just-ended polls.

Lungu said the regional voting trend, if not checked, will make the country lose the unity it has embraced over the years.

He said the "One Zambia, One Nation" motto espoused by the country's founding fathers risked being destroyed by the regional voting pattern.

Lungu won re-election with 1.8 million of votes while his main rival, Hakainde Hichilema got 1.7 million votes. Lungu got more votes in the ruling party strongholds and eastern Zambia where he hails from, while the opposition leader got more in southern Zambia and his strongholds of western and northwestern Zambia. -- A Zambian premier league side has made history by reaching the semi-finals of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League.

Zesco United will meet either South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns or Egypt's Zamalek in the semi-finals of the championship.

The Zambian side's passage to the last four came after Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca beat Asec Mimosa of Ivory Coast 2-1 on Sunday night. Wydad have 10 points, two better than Zesco and the two teams will clash on August 23 in Zambia. (Zambia Daily Mail) Endit
