Germany's benchmark DAX index closes lower

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday went down and closed at 10,676.65 points.

The DAX index has been going up recently and it went down mainly due to profit taking, according to local analysts. It lost 62.56 points, or 0.58 percent.

Linde, an industrial gas company, climbed by 11.09 points. Deutsche Boerse advanced by 0.54 percent. Muenchener Rueckversicherungs-Gesellschaft, an insurance and reinsurance company, added 0.44 percent. Commerzbank went up by 0.26 percent.

On the other hand, Deutsche Lufthansa lost 2.88 percent. The utilities company EON slipped by 2.42 percent. Volkswagen fell by 1.74 percent. Merck, a science and technology company, dropped by 1.68 percent. Fresenius, a medical care company, went down by 1.63 percent.

Linde was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 583.18 million euros (651.52 million U.S. dollars) Endit
