Spain's consumer prices fall 0.6 pct in July

Spain's consumer prices fell 0.6 percent in July compared with the same month of a year earlier, official figures showed on Friday.
According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) by Spain's Statistical Office (INE), the figure is 0.2 percent higher than the annual inflation rate of June when prices fell by 0.8 percent on a year-on-year basis.
According to the INE, prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks rose by 2.5 percent due to the increased prices of fresh fruits and vegetables. Prices of items related to leisure and culture fell by 0.6 percent and those related to the hotel industry rose by 0.7 percent.
Prices of items related to housing fell by 5.6 percent while those of transport fell by 4.1 percent due to a fall in prices of fuel and lubricants.
The INE also reported that on a month-to-month basis prices fell by 0.7 percent, with prices of items related to clothing and shoes falling by 12.8 percent, those of transport decreasing by 0.6 percent and those of leisure and culture and food rising by 3 percent and 0.6 percent respectively. Endit
