Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday went down and closed at 10,650.89 points.

The DAX index gained over 260 points on Tuesday and the market had to "digest the gains", according to local analysts. The DAX index lost 42.01 points, or 0.39 percent, on Wednesday.

Deutsche Bank climbed by 3.07 percent. Adidas gained 2.53 percent. Commerzbank advanced by 2.05 percent. Allianz added 1.57 percent. ProSiebenSat1 Media went up by 1.07 percent.

On the other hand, two utilities companies suffered the greatest losses. EON fell by 7.79 percent and RWE lost 3.65 percent. Thyssenkrupp slipped by 3.03 percent. Fresenius Medical Care dropped by 1.88 percent and Deutsche Lufthansa went down by 1.63 percent.

Allianz was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 261.9 million euros(292.78 million U.S. dollars). Endit
