Argentina to buy 24 U.S. planes in fight against drug trafficking

Xinhua, August 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Argentina will buy 24 planes from the United States, at an estimated total cost of 300 million U.S. dollars, to be used in the fight against drug trafficking, local media reported Tuesday.

The U.S Department of Defence approved the sale of 24 T6-C Texan II aircrafts, Argentine daily La Nacion reported.

The approval was officially notified through a press release, the newspaper said. The press release said the aircrafts will be used both for training pilots and for "border control missions, especially in the porous northern border."

The deal involves two-seater turboprop light attack aircrafts, developed by Beechcraft Defense Company, whose operational base is located in the state of Kansas in the U.S. midwest region, the report said. Endit
