Bratislava Airport handles nearly 1 mln passengers in Jan.-July period

Xinhua, August 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

M.R. Stefanik Airport in Bratislava handled nearly a million passengers in the first seven months of 2016, up by 16 percent compared to last year.

"Operational results of Bratislava Airport posted positive figures for the seventh months in a row. Despite the geopolitical situation -- having, unfortunately, adverse effects on the summer charter season -- we expect that the overall increase of handled passengers in 2016 will reach a double-digit percentage figure, like last year," said Bratislava Airport general director and managing board chairman Ivan Trhlik on Tuesday.

With 975,447 passengers processed, there were almost 14,869 landings and departures combined -- 7 percent more than in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the airport handled 12,796 tonnes of freight, also up by 7 percent year-on-year.

The five most frequented destinations featured London, Dublin, Berlin, Milan (all operated by Ryanair) and Moscow (operated by Pobeda). Enditem
