6 children drown in pond in India

At least six children drowned in a pond Tuesday in western Indian state of Rajasthan, officials said.

The children slipped in the pond at village Khokhsar in Barmer district, 538 km west of Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan.

"Six children aged between six and eight today died due to drowning in a pond in Khokhsar village," an official said.

"The boys were grazing cattle and playing near pond filled with rainwater when they accidentally slipped into it."

Officials said all the bodies have been fished out of the pond by local villagers. Endit
