Unemployment rate in Switzerland stable in July: report

Switzerland's unemployment rate stood at 3.1 percent in July this year, with 139,310 people registered as jobless in the country, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs reported Tuesday.

Representing a 4.2 percent rise compared to the same period last year, the latest figures show that only an additional 183 unemployed individuals were recorded in July compared to two months earlier.

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 years) rose by 8.3 percent, with more than 17,000 young adults looking for a job in July.

The number of jobseekers signed up to work in Switzerland decreased by 1,784 people from June to July, reaching 199,347 by the end of last month.

The state agency also reported that the number of listed job opportunities in the country decreased by 621 in July to reach 10,648. Endit
