Most Russian Paralympians absolutely "clean" : President of Russian Olympic Committee

Xinhua, August 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

The President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov said that the most Russian Paralympians absolutely "clean" and they deserved to participate the Rio 2016 Games.

Zhukov thinks that Paralympic Committee of Russia has a right intention to go to court because the International Paralympic Committee' s decision to remove Russian Paralympic athletes is absolutely unreasonable, politicized and made under pressure, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

The president of the Russian Olympic Committee recalled a recent example when the International Olympic Committee gave Russian athletes the opportunity to participate.

He also noted that the Russian Paralympic team also has the right to participate the Rio 2016 Games.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) issued Aug. 7 a statement banning Russian athletes from 2016 Rio Paralympics "with immediate effect".

The summer Paralympics are scheduled to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from September 7-18. Endit
