10 killed, 30 injured in road mishap in northern India

At least 10 people have been killed and more than 30 others injured in a road mishap in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, a senior police official said Monday.

"The incident took place late Sunday evening when a tractor trolley in which the victims, mostly pilgrims, were travelling overturned in the state's Saharanpur district," he said.

The victims were travelling for a religious congregation in Sultanpur village from Sahajva area in Saharanour when the mishap took place, the official said.

While 10 people died on the spot, those injured have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of a few are said to be serious, he said.

A probe has been ordered into the incident, the official added. Endit
