1st LD Writethru: At least 30 mainland tourists injured in bus crash in Macao

Xinhua, August 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least 30 tourists from the Chinese mainland were injured, three seriously on Monday when a tour bus crashed into a building in Macao, the special administrative region's authorities said.

According to Macao's fire department in charge of rescue mission for the accident, among the 30 injured, 18 were women and another 12 were men, and three of them were in serious condition. They were sent to local hospitals immediately.

According to Macao Public Security Police Force, the accident happened when the bus stopped at a slope. It is suspected that the handbrake of the bus didn't function and the bus moved down from the slope before crashing into a clinic beside the road.

The driver was not in the bus during the accident. The case and the cause of the accident will be further investigated.

The injured were from a tourist group organized in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province. They came to Macao around 9:00 local time on Monday, and planned to leave this afternoon. Endit
