At least 13 people were killed and six others injured in a bar fire in the French city of Rouen early Saturday, local media reported.
The victims were between the ages of 18 and 25, the Paris-Normandie newspaper said.
A private birthday party was being held in the basement of the Cuba Libre bar when the fire broke out, according to local authorities.

MOSCOW -- Igor Plotnytsky, head of Ukraine's self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic, was hospitalized after an explosion hit his car on Saturday, Russian media reported.
According to the Lugansk information center, Plotnytsky was injured when an explosion early Saturday in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbass damaged the car of the self-styled leader.
Plotnytsky is now in serious condition, the Interfax news agency quoted a hospital source as saying. (Ukraine-Donbass Rebel Leader)

KABUL -- Some five police personnel had been killed in a bomb attack on the southern outskirts of the Afghan capital of Kabul, a police source said Saturday.
"The explosion occurred late on Friday after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) struck a police van in Khak-e-Jabar district, Kabul province. As a result five Afghan Civil Order Police personnel were killed," the source told Xinhua anonymously.
The unit was travelling towards Kabul city from neighboring Azra district of eastern Logar province before being attacked, the source said.

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian Air Force intensified airstrikes on the rebels in the northern province of Aleppo on Saturday, cutting thus all routes the rebels could open into Aleppo city, the national Syrian TV reported.
The airstrikes destroyed tens of vehicles with their occupants on several routes that could lead the rebels into breaking the government siege on the eastern part of Aleppo. (Syria-Airstrike) Endit
