Schalke lose new arrival Coke to injury

Xinhua, August 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Schalke's new arrival Coke will be out of action after suffering a knee ligament injury on Friday.

The "Royal Blues" start with a setback into their preparation as summer signing Jorge Andujar Moreno, known as Coke, sustained a cruciate ligament rupture in his right knee during a test game.

After 45 minutes on the pitch, the Spaniard felt a pain, which turned out to be a ligament injury. Further medical examination will determine how to proceed with the injured knee in the coming days.

"We are all shocked," Schalke's sporting director Christian Heidel said. " We feel very sorry for Coke as he made an impact within the team since his arrival. He will get every assistance to recover."

Schalke's new arrival joined from FC Sevilla after inking a three-year deal. The "Royal Blues" face Eintracht Frankfurt at the first round in German Bundesliga on August 27. Endit
