One Greek athlete expelled from Rio Olympics following positive doping test

A member of the Greek team has been expelled from the Rio de Janeiro Olympics after testing positive for drugs, the country's Olympic Committee said on Friday.

The unidentified athlete tested positive for banned substances in a pre-Games test conducted in July in Athens.

"The Hellenic Olympic Committee has requested the testing of all Greek athletes who are going to participate in the Games. The specific team member has now left the Olympic village."

Greece has sent a team of 97 to the Rio Games, which officially start later on Friday with the Greek team set to enter the stadium first during the opening ceremony. Endit
