Sarajevo Roses to premiere at 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival

Xinhua, August 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Documentary film Sarajevo Roses, directed by Roger Richards from the United States, will premiere at this year's 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival, local media reported on Thursday.

Director Richards chose Sarajevo Roses as the name of his film, after the traces of bombs on the streets of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War were later painted in red color.

Richards witnessed the siege of Sarajevo in the period from 1992 to 1995. After the war, he often returned to Sarajevo, following the changes that the city underwent.

"I've gotten to know Sarajevo pretty well in the last 23 years and this film reflects this," he said.

The Sarajevo Film Festival, launched in 1995, has become a leading cultural event in the Balkan region, attracting thousands of fans each year. The 22nd edition will officially open on Aug. 12, and last until Aug. 20. Enditem
