Russian President Vladimir Putin has not planned to attend the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics, which will kick off on Friday evening, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.

"The president's schedule does not include such a trip, the same goes for the head of the [presidential] administration," Peskov was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency, adding that he had no information regarding other officials and government members. Endit
