Singapore stocks close 1.24 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 35.85 points, or 1.24 percent, to close at 2,856.67.

A total of 1.31 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.04 billion Singapore dollars (776.1 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 308 to 128, while 470 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 23.83 points, or 0.83 percent, to close at 2,892.52 on Monday. Endit
