Elderly couple drown after car accident in southern Portugal

An elderly couple drowned after their car fell into a reservoir in southern Portugal on Friday, local media reported.

The accident happened at Baleizao, Beja, around 180 km south of Lisbon. The car slipped when the driver was reversing it. According to newspaper Publico, the car floated for some time in the water, but the couple were unable to get out.

The couple went to the reservoir for fishing, according to the newspaper.

Their bodies were later recovered by four divers. Enditem
