1st LD: 4 drug convicts executed in Indonesia

The Indonesian government has executed two drug convicts from Nigeria and another from Senegal at Nukakambangan prison in Central Java, Attorney General H.M. Prasetyo said here on Friday.

One convicted drug smuggler from Indonesia was also shot dead by a firing squad after midnight, the attorney general said.

"The execution was conducted at Nukakambangan prison," he said at the attorney general's office.

The four were out of 14 convicts expected to be executed by the end of this week for drug offenses, Prasetyo has said previously.

Prasetyo said that the four convicts' crimes had been grave and resulted in serious damage to other people.

President Joko Widodo has declared a war against drug abuses in the country which has been at an alarming level in recent years. Endit
