Albania's export drops by 6.4 pct in June

Albania's export in June reached a value of 23 billion lek (187 million U.S. dollars), marking a decline of 6.4 percent compared to the same period of 2015 and growing by 10.1 percent compared to May 2016, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) on Thursday.

INSTAT said in its Foreign Trade report that imports in June reached a value of 51 billion lek, registering a growth of 4.1 percent compared to June 2015, and decline by around 1.6 percent compared to May.

INSTAT estimated that the trade deficit for the month of June was 28 billion Lek, increasing by 14.4 percent compared to the same period of 2015 and shrinking by 9.3 percent compared to May 2016.

According to INSTAT, trade with EU member states accounted for 67.9 percent of exchanges, with exports accounting for 78.4 percent and imports accounting for 63.2 percent of the total.

Main trading partners are Italy (39.8 percent), China (7.8 percent), Greece (7.2 percent) and Turkey (6.1 percent). (1 U.S. dollar = 123 lek) Endit
