Lithuanian politicians' wealth in 2015 revealed

Lithuania's state tax inspectorate revealed on Monday the wealth of the country's politicians.

According to the data, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite's wealth totalled 809,000 euros (1.06 million U.S. dollars) in 2015, an increase of about 50,000 euros compared with that of 2014. The worth of her real estate and land amounted to 124,000 euros. The value of Grybauskaite's investments into Lithuanian government's securities amounted to 368,000 euros.

The wealth of Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius and his wife reached almost 249,000 euros, up 16,000 euros from 2014. His family's property was valued at 163,000 euros.

The richest Lithuanian cabinet member in 2015 was Culture Minister Sarunas Birutis, whose wealth amounted to about 1.59 million euros. According to the state tax inspectorate, more than half of Birutis' wealth were loans provided to other individuals or companies.

Last year, Lithuania's wealthiest member of the Seimas, the Lithuanian parliament, was Bronius Bradauskas, a member of the ruling social democrat party, whose wealth amounted to 7.6 million euros. There were four MPs in the 141-seat Seimas with wealth exceeding 1 million euros.

The total wealth of the members of the Seimas amounted to 31.9 million euros, an increase of 8.4 percent compared to that of 2014, according to the calculations by Lithuanian business website vz.lt. Enditem
