Trilateral Syria meeting to take place Tuesday: UN

The Office of the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria indicated Monday that Staffan de Mistura would take part in a meeting between representatives of the United States and Russia here Tuesday to discuss a number of key issues in a bid to resume Syria peace talks as soon as possible.

"The United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, has been invited to participate in a trilateral meeting called by the International Syria Support Group co-chairs, to discuss the situation on the ground and how to move forward on the political process," the UN office said in a statement.

The UN-mediated peace process seeking to broker a political end to the five-year conflict in Syria has been on hold since April this year. Endit
