Hamilton fastest in 1st practice but 5th in second of Hungarian GP

Defending champion Lewis Hamilton (Britain) driving for Mercedes had the fastest time at the first practice of Hungarian GP on Friday but skidded off the track in the second to finish 5th.
Hamilton appeared unhurt despite colliding with a rubber barrier but was unable to continue and had to be satisfied with a time of 1 minute 21.960 seconds.
In the first practice he had clocked 1 minute 21.347 seconds to finish first ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg's (Germany) 1 minute 21.584 seconds.
Rosberg had the best time in the second practice (1:20.435). He is currently in first place in the overall standings with 168 points, one point ahead of Hamilton at the midpoint in the 21-meet contest.
Daniel Ricciardo (Australia) driving for Red Bull was second in the 2nd practice with 1:l21.030. He finished 5th in the 1st session with 1:23.174.
Ferrari' s Sebastian Vettel (Germany) was third in both practices with his second time of 1:21.348 besting his first time of 1:22.991. Red Bull' s Max Verstappen (Netherlands) was fourth with 1:21.770 following a 6th place finish in the 1st session with 1:23.457.
On the heels of Hamilton's 5th place, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen (Finland) came in 6th with 1:22.058 after a 4th place finish in the 1st session with 1:23.082.
McLaren's Fernando Alonso of Spain was 7th in both practices, with 1:22.328 in the 2nd practice following a 1st practice time of 1:23.935.
Alonzo's teammate Jenson Button (Britain) was 8th in both practices (1:22.387 following 1:23.961).
Nico Hulkenberg (Germany) driving for Force India was 9th in the 2nd practice with 1:22.459 after an 11th place morning finish with 1:24.120
Haas' Romain Grosjean (France) came in 9th in the morning with 1:24.013, but was 15th in the afternoon with 01:22.864.
Force India's Sergio Perez (Mexico) was 10th in both the 1st and 2nd sessions.
In all, there are three practice sessions, two on Friday and one on Saturday. While the time trials, held on Saturday afternoon, actually determine pole position drivers can be penalized by dropping them several start positions (grids) for infractions during practice.
Hamilton has won the F1 meet at Hungaroring 4 times, tying him with Germany's Michael Schumacher (who retired in 2012) for the most wins. Hamilton's last Hungaroring win was in 2013.
Earlier on Friday Rosberg signed a new two-year contract with Mercedes, taking him to the end of 2018. Endit
