Russia surpasses Saudi Arabia in oil production in May 2016

Russia has surpassed Saudi Arabia in oil production in May 2016, the country's statistical office Rosstat said Friday.

"On an average Russia produces 10,46 million barrels of oil per day, while Saudi Arabia produces 10,24 million barrels per day," said Rosstat.

The total production of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in May was 32,36 million barrels per day.

According to Rosstat, from January to May, Russia's oil and gas production increased by 3.3 percent year-on-year to 228,1 million tons. Endi
