Gas leak reported in west China

A section of the second West-to-East natural gas pipeline, operated by PetroChina, was damaged during a geological exploration accident, causing a gas leak, the oil giant said Friday.

There have been no reported casualties or explosions following the accident on Thursday evening in a section of pipeline in Zhongwei City in western China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

An emergency response mission was launched immediately by the company and people were evacuated from the scene of the accident.

The situation is under control and maintenance work has begun. Endi
