Libya's High Council of State has criticized the performance of a political dialogue team that met earlier in Tunisia.
The advisory body, in a statement issued Wednesday, "deplored" the intervention of the team, which it says lacks expertise on military and other matters.
The UN Support Mission in Libya sponsored a political dialogue in Tunisia on July 16-18 to discuss means of solving urgent issues in Libya, including implementation of a political agreement signed by Libya's political rivals, as well as security and economy.
Under the UN-sponsored agreement, signed on Dec. 17, 2015, a nine-member Presidency Council and a 17-member interim Government of National Accord should be formed; new elections are to be held within two years.
The Council of State, in its statement Wednesday, also demanded that the UN mission "commit to the related resolutions of the UN Security Council" and refrain from "proposing and suggesting matters that might be seen as an attempt to complicate efforts that aim to increase consensus."
Libya has been buffetted by security and economic crises following the 2011 fall of former leader Muammar Gaddafi, which created a power vacuum taken advantage by Islamic State (IS) and other extremist groups. Endit
