Slovakia international Duda joins Berlin

Xinhua, July 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Hertha Berlin have completed the commitment of midfielder Ondrej Duda from Legia Warsaw, the Bundesliga club confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.

After a long back and forth, Berlin were finally able to sign the 21-year-old midfielder after agreeing on a five year deal until June 2021.

"We are very pleased that we have signed with Ondrej a young player with a lot of potential for development," Berlin's sporting director Michael Preetz said. "He already gained a lot of experienced despite his age."

The attacking midfielder played from 2014 until 2016 for Poland outfit Legia Warsaw, where he marked ten goals in 67 appearances. Hertha's new arrival is since 2014 part of Slovakia's national team. He made 12 caps and provided two goals ever since.

"The talks with those responsible were very, very good," Duda said. "I believe that the way (coach) Pal Dardai wants to play with Hertha, fits very well with the way I play."

Ondrej Duda received the jersey number 10. His new club encounter newly promoted Freiburg for their season opener on August 28. Endit
