-- A scam has been unearthed in Lusaka, the Zambian capital in which some spirit and whisky brewers were adding anti-retroviral drugs to increase the alcohol content.

The named brewers have resorted to doing this so that they could promote their brand names as well as increase the alcohol content.(TIMES OF ZAMBIA)

-- United Nations (UN) secretary-general Ban Ki-moon has urged presidential candidates in Zambia's general elections to accept the final outcome as will be declared by the country's electoral body.

The UN chief said in a message to the nine presidential candidates in the August 11 polls that they should be gracious in defeat and magnanimous in defeat.(DAILY NATION)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu said he will upgrade all major roads in the northern parts of the country if he wins next month's general elections.
