Former Croatian international Sammir joins Chinese club Hangzhou

Xinhua, July 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Former Croatian international Jorge Sammir officially signed a six-month loan contract with Chinese Super League (CSL) side Hangzhou Greentown here on Friday.

A former Brazilian midfielder, the 29-year-old started his career in Dinamo Zagreb and then went to play for La Liga side Getafe. After obtaining Croatian citizenship, he was selected to the national team and played Brazil World Cup in 2014.

He joined CSL side Jiangsu Suning last season, but Jiangsu signed Colombian international Roger Martinez before this summer's transfer window closed, meaning that Sammir could hardly get a chance to stay.

"We hope Sammir can help us avoid relegation this season," said Greentown vice general manager Wu Shaokui. Endit
