Latvian seaside town to host 10th Positivus music festival

Xinhua, July 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tens of thousands of pop music fans are expected to flock to Latvia's picturesque seaside town Salacgriva for the 10th Positivus music and art festival this weekend.

Chief organizer Girts Majors said at a news conference Wednesday that up to 30,000 people are expected to attend the event each day, but it would be the limit, as 30,000 is the festival' s maximum capacity.

Positivus, known as the biggest and most important music festival in the Baltic states, is held each year on the third weekend of July. The festival's program includes performances by international chart toppers and local artists' shows on stages just a few hundred meters from the Baltic Sea.

The anniversary festival, which will run from this Friday through Sunday, will feature not only such world renown artists such as M83, but also many rising pop music stars.

British singer Ellie Goulding, who was supposed to headline this year's Positivus Festival, canceled her appearance on Tuesday "due to being unwell".

DJ and music producer Mark Ronson is now scheduled to replace her on the festival' s main stage on Friday with a DJ set created especially for the festival's anniversary, organizers said. Endit
