Russian gov't to finance 10 priority projects

Xinhua, July 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Monday that the government will finance 10 priority projects.

"Some of the priority projects will be in education and public health, but it will be a new stage because there are still some problems," the Russian news agency Interfax quoted Medvedev as saying.

"There are cross-sectoral projects: small- and medium-sized enterprises, export financing and support for housing, but at a new stage as well," the prime minister added at a meeting with members of the current ruling political party United Russia in Yekaterinburg.

He also said that mortgage has become a basic tool for solving the housing problem. So mortgage and rental markets are also among the priorities.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree late last month to establish a Presidential Council on Strategic Development and Priority Projects, to replace the Council for the Implementation of Priority National Projects and Demographic Policy and the Council for Housing Policy and Affordability, the Kremlin said in a statement on its website.

Medvedev has said he would offer proposals at the new council's first meeting on Wednesday. Endi
