Singapore stocks close 0.21 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 5.89 points, or 0.85 percent, to close at 2,864.67.

A total of 1.57 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 950.7 million Singapore dollars (704.2 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 219 to 162, while 525 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 24.19 points, or 0.85 percent, to close at 2,870.56 on Monday. Endit
