German carmakers expect strong sales growth in 2016

Xinhua, July 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

New car sales in Germany will register strong growth in 2016 following a good start to the year, German carmakers' association VDA said Monday.

In June, new passenger car registrations in Germany jumped by 8 percent year-on-year to 339,600 vehicles. In the first half of 2016, new registrations rose yearly by 7 percent to 1.73 million.

"The domestic passenger car market shows a vitality that many have not expected," said VDA president Matthias Wissmann in a press conference here.

"This is a good starting position for a successful second half of the year," said Wissmann.

He expected new passenger car sales over the year 2016 to increase by 3 percent to 3.3 million vehicles. Endit
