China brings 1,570 homeless people back home

Xinhua, July 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Aid agencies across China found the families of 1,570 homeless persons and took them home in the first half of this year, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Most of the success came through posting search notices on websites, DNA sampling and inquiries in person.

"Every year aid agencies offer support for a large number of seniors, women, minors and the mentally retarded that might be missing or have been kidnapped. Most of them can't provide accurate information about their families or themselves," said Wang Jinhua, a ministry official in charge of social affairs, on Monday.

While offering basic accommodation to them, the ministry will strengthen cooperation with the police, media and social groups to confirm their identities and spread search information, Wang said. Endi
